Hold My Beer
Day 3 - Crossing 1st Border

Day 3: 250 miles Etna, Ca - Coos Bay, Or

Today I crossed my first border into Oregon.  I started the day by having some corn beef hash with Grandma and figuring out the new cameras.

This is one of the video cameras mounted on the bike.  They are tiny HD cameras that are built to handle situations such as being blasted by 80 mph winds on the nose of a motorcycle.  These cameras can be set to roll video or snap photos.

Poor grandma was hanging out in front of the bike not realizing it was a rolling camera.  Hehe.  Her shirt says “Dog whispering didn’t work, I’m more of a Dog Yeller.”  There is a lot of truth to this if you’ve ever met her 3 fanatic dachshunds.

The ride was nice today.  I am definitely getting more comfortable on the bike, which is nice considering the roads are getting windier.  The temperature dropped at least 10 degrees coming into Oregon.  I had to throw on another layer.

I pulled into Coos Bay around 3pm.  Cute little town with some interesting people scampering around.  I went checked into a hotel and went out for an early dinner.  Now back at the hotel updating this thing and trying to figure out the video cameras again.  Here are a couple pics from Coos Bay

Tomorrow I am off to Portland.  Two options are to drive 25 miles North then cut back to 5 and see a lot of Elk, or take the coastal road all the way to Tillamook then East to Portland.  I’ll decide over some coffee tomorrow.
