Hold My Beer
Off We Go

After months of blabbering about a fantasy motorcycle trip, it looks like it is finally going to happen.  I have carved 3 weeks out of my busy (alright not THAT busy) schedule to get on the bike and head north.  My original plan was to ship the bike to Anchorage, AK with a friend and ride back together.  He unfortunately had to pull out from the trip, and not feeling in an incredibly solitary mood decided to scrap the Alaska portion this time.

My plan B has me almost as excited.  It looks something like this:

I want to try to maintain a flexible route, so am assuming this will change a bit.  If you notice any huge points of interest I am missing on my route, please let me know.  So far I only have 4 points on a schedule and plan to leave it that way.  Tomorrow I leave SF and stop over for the night in Winters.  I am expecting a pretty memorable look on Mom’s face as I have come to find out that Mom’s and motorcycles are not like peas and carrots.

Thursday I plan to ride north up Hwy 5 to Etna where my Grandma lives.  She and I will then likely have a wild party down at the Etna Brewery.

I will then take a few days to get to Portland where I will stay a couple of days with my Aunt/Uncle/Cousin.  After that I have to be in Bozeman by July 10th where I meet up with my riding partner and head to Vegas.

This is the bike I will be riding.  07’ F650GS Dakar.  Pretty stock.  Added GPS, tankbag, and taller windshield to keep some of the wind off me.

I plan to update this every few days, it will be interesting which direction this trip actually ends up going.  Excited!
